About the Authors
is a director of InfoLegal Ltd – providers of helpline compliance and consultancy advice to law firms – and is also a consultant solicitor with the regulatory specialists Jayne Willetts & Co. He was for many years the authorised trainer for the Law Society in its Lexcel scheme and was the author of four editions of the popular ‘Lexcel Office Procedures Manual’. His other titles have addressed a range of compliance and management topics, including SRA rule book issues, money laundering and mortgage fraud avoidance.
is a Lexcel consultant who worked for the Legal Aid Board in the early 1990s at the inception of ‘franchising’, has experience of managing organisations with legal aid contracts, and has written and lectured extensively on legal aid practice management. Vicky’s latest book on legal aid (co-written with Simon Pugh), ‘The Legal Aid Handbook 2011-12’ was published in May 2011 for Legal Action Group (LAG). She has also advised over 200 firms of solicitors and not-for-profit organisations on all aspects of legal aid contracting.
Diane was formerly Director of Compliance at SGH Martineau (now Shakespeare Martineau). Her responsibilities extended to the operation of the firm's anti-money laundering programme and quality systems under ISO9001, as well as risk management and business continuity planning.
Diane studied law at University College, London and Clare College, Cambridge. After attending the College of Law at Guildford she undertook her training contract at Ryland Martineau, specialising in corporate and commercial work on admission. Subsequently she taught intellectual property and competition law at the University of Birmingham, before re-joining Martineau Johnson (as it had then become) in 1991 to establish a human resources and training department. She was Director of Human Resources and Compliance until 2012 when she then focused solely on compliance management.
